Biography - Scott McLallen

On the tri side, Scott has completed multiple full distance Ironman triathlons as well as competed in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI.  He has also raced upwards of 50 Half Ironman, Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons.  As a swimmer, he swam in the NVSL and for Bishop Ireton High School before competing at the collegiate D1 level for Ohio University.  Scott jumped into coaching with two summers at Rolling Valley Swim Team in Springfield while he was still in college.  After graduating in 1994, he coached for three years at Rolling Forest in Springfield.  Scott currently coaches the Mount Vernon Country Club Summer and Winter programs as well as the winter swim program for Riverside Gardens Swim Team (RGST) and the RGST summer stroke and turn clinics. He is a USA Swimming/NVSL certified stroke and turn judge.  He has also coached youth soccer for Gunston Soccer Club for eight seasons and boys and girls lacrosse for five seasons.  

Scott is a believer in listening to your body to guide practice and recovery. He is always available to talk about issues you may be having and what you can do to maintain some level of training or fitness while recovering from an injury.

 

Biography - Joel DeSatnick

Joel was born, raised and currently resides in Alexandria. He attended George Mason University for his Health and P.E. undergraduate degree and then continued with his education at the University of Virginia, where Joel received his Masters in Kinesiology for Individuals with Disabilities. Currently, Joel is a P.E. teacher at Laurel Hill Elementary School and loves to teach students how to be life-long movers while exposing them to many sports and activities that can help them stay active.

Joel started swimming when he was seven years old with the Hayfield Farm Seahawks and continued for the next 12 years. In addition to summer swim, he also swam with NCAP for 7 years, Hayfield Secondary (high school) for 4 years, and the George Mason varsity swim team for 2 years while competing in meets such as States, NCSA Junior Nationals, and Atlantic 10 Conferences.

As a coach, Joel coached in the NVSL with Hayfield Farms for 7 years as an assistant coach, and with Highland Park for two summers as a head coach. He have been the head coach for the Mansion House Piranhas since the summer of 2018. Outside of NVSL, Joel has also coached at the club level with NCAP for eight years and the high school level (assistant at BI) for four years.
